Vigils
In the wee and silent hours
Of the very early morn
So thin the veil that separates
We the living from the dead
The Church that fights the battles
From Your Church at rest above
From the cloud that veils our knowing
In this place of silent speech
Here we enter now
To be known by Him
Who knows all things
In the presence of His angels
In silence we will praise Him
In this early time of day
When the veil be almost lifted
Into the Cloud we enter
And with Your Watchers join
The praise around Your throne!
Lauds
Breaking ore the rime of Earth
Come the new rays of the dawn
To pry away the fingers of the night
And fill the world again with light
To rescue us who stumble in the dark
Purging our hearts to give us sight
That we might see the angels
Who at His word are sent
To war against the hosts of evil
And to put them all to flight
So we the Watchers for the dawn
Do wait in hope and peace
To see again your promise
That Your reign shall never cease!
Terce
Clouds of green
Clinging to the twisting wood
Framed against the azure blue
Catching early morning light
Long shadows cast upon the ground
As day begins to bloom
Soul awake to breath it in
Quietly pass His love to others
And lift your hands in praise to God.
Prime
After praying in the night
And listening to the silence growing
Waiting for the dawn,
Waiting for your light
Now your day awaits me
As I bend my ear to hear
Your command to live anew
To be the bearer of your Love
Into your world today!
Sext
Here at the mid part of the day
We gather to resist the tug of sleep
To renew once more the heart of praise
To focus again upon your day
To hear the angel that calls to us
To renew our courage and carry on
And take you Love into your world!
None
As the day begins to wane
And once again we see
That we have no hope in things of earth
For all that seems so strong
Will one day fade away
We are reminded that only what is Holy
Shall stand the test of Godly flame
So at this time we enter in
To the rhythm of Your praise
Letting the music of your silence
Fill our hearts again!
Vespers
As the light begins to fade
And the end of day draws near
We turn our hearts to contemplation
And listen in the silence
To the beating of our souls
To process all our conflicts
And wait upon your Word
To let you bear us up
And heal us from regrets
So we can be your hands, your lights
Lifting up our neighbors to your loving care!
Compline
Wisps of threads that twinkle with the dew
Catching rays of setting sun
Cool lights flashing, hovering above the ground
Stars appearing slowly, echoing back their praise
And in the twilight, the silence growing
So if we listen closely
We can hear your angels sing
And join our voice with theirs
To praise the God of glory
Who brings all things to be
And in the silence we find our rest in You
As you hold us through the night!
