It is a typical Friday,
Peeps be gettin ready
To go places, while I choose
My room as a hiding place,
Books at seven I be hittin,
My neighbors walkin down
Them set of steps in a rush
On their way out givin a stare,
I heard my mom yellin,
Telling me to come help,
When all I wanted to do
Was to be drinkin & ballin,
But that was no game plan tonite,
God is tellin me to study hard,
And do all my chores at set times,
Rest is a dream for some other nite,
My momma callin me again,
For she made us some dinner,
She tired as hell yo,
But she came through no matter,
Inside I wish I could ride,
To the beach or the ballet,
To the clubs where the hunnies be,
I don't wanna sit on the sidelines,
I got to shake this insanity,
Before it gets me going crazy,
On that path where I keep wishin,
Before I know it, I am down rite trippin,
This lifestyle of mine is no fairy tale,
I struggle everyday wishin for better day,
But all I know is my past in my heart,
Got to take it one day at time and ride.
