Inverse Universe
I fell asleep, and I did dream,
Of a universe where all was inverse
Where push was pull and pull was push
Where up was down and down was up
Where in was out and out was in
A place in which there was no sin
Where good was bad and bad was good
A place where equal means we’re all the same
A world in which there dwells no shame
A place where noise is hailed as music
A universe which was lit by gray
Never by the Light of day
This world was not down the rabbit hole
Or even through the looking glass,
Sadly no, …. ‘twas taught in class.
A world of which the prophet wrote
A world in which no ark did float
A place where none was there to bail the boat
A place where thoughts were bites of sound
A world where the muse was gagged with cloud
A world where value wasn’t found.
Then I awoke and cried aloud
Have mercy, deliver us O Heaven’s Hound!
