birds huddle, waiting
chicks complain shrilly
demanding food, wet or not.
cow-faced cat watching
from windowsill perch
hunching when noticed.
nonchalant morning bath
when attention not snared
he pretends indifference.
thunder rolls thundering
stilling in it's progress
all eyes glace upward.
morning breaking the night
grey birth to newest day
