Could This Be Love?
Waiting in semi-dark
teddy bear delivery
first time ever i saw her.
Nite drive across Tucson
meeting my Yahoo match
hugging hello in driveway...
wondering, could this be love?
Candlelit, fancy restaurant
tiny food, steep prices
grabbing 7eleven to fill.
Shoes pounding on wall
motel neighbor complaining
laughing as we love anew...
Insatiable, this must be love.
Special dinner a cooking
flowers, shrimp, expectation
surprise my hard working gal.
Dinner dies horribly
as she explodes, angry
expecting my confession...
Bewildered, this must be love.
Clashing, dueling pride
neither believing in forever
experience teaches us so.
Helicopters in the air
neighbors interview police
oh how we fought destiny...
Shattered, this must be love.
Broke up, split up
different ways and days
yet; back together again.
Yes we fought it
this til death, scary thing
fought it, fought it again...
Over and over, this must be love.
Meeting family, friends
winning them all over again
we are who and what we are.
Thru the tears, fears and joy
we remain two as one
even as we bitterly fought it...
Surrendering, this must be love.
Bright, Alabama dawn
carving dew laden forest
window down fresh, clean.
"I'll Fly Away" playing
borrowed, brand new Chevy
my baby singing, smiling...
Certain, this must be love.
Moonlight, deep night
in the wind, two up free
motorcycle engagement ring.
Roaring into the stillness
catching air and squeals
she holds on tight, tighter...
Absolutely, this must be love.
Three, perhaps four times
promises before ministers
speaking vows, trembling.
Married, married, married anew
laughing at the absurdity
giving up to stay together...
Finally, could this be love?
