Unwarranted Change

Life throws at me a meal, full of sweets,
And I shared not a trickle of it with the world,

Life throws me a few rotten apples,
And I spread them amongst others,
As if they were gifts of heaven,

At times in our life, we are reminded of our beliefs,
Something that can't be explained, but it scraps at us,
It takes our soul, what it was once before,
And tries to mold it once again,

So pure was that heart, that no rain was ever needed,
For the water from heaven would have tainted this heart,

But now that we have learned to receive so much,
We forget to give, even if it isn't very much,

So sad we become over things that are minute,
That it even moves the soul of the devil with envy,

Secrets of our past, we protect it with lies,
So that people can glance at our mask,
And do not look surprised,

My fellow humans, what have we too lose,
When we choose to give our life for a valiant cause,

Sometimes, the tightness of our heart,
May mend any pain,

In the end we may choose to complain,
But our soul will never be the same.
