The Great Unplugger

Tiptoeing round the house
Unplugging where she goes
She's always taking care
So current won't leak out
The nightly rounds she makes
To keep the house from burning
So in the sleepy nighttime
There'll be no worried turning But with this there is a problem:
In the night there is no light
And in my brain I wonder
Just what would Thurber think?
As in the dark I stumble
And to myself I mumble
And sometimes rant and rave
But I know 'twill do no good
That's the truth for goodness sake
As I know the great unplugger,
Who's a determined little person
With her mind made up
Her nightly rounds on tiptoe,
Ever will she make!

For my sweet Janie
