My soul floats free above the stake
Smoke and ashes curtain the area
Family gently free my burned corpse
Soldiers watch on this fatal day
On the wall of my room is the Imprimatur
Countless meetings over decades to gain the valued paper
Days of Darkness prohibit most book publishing
The prized license signed by His Holiness hangs on my wall
Literary works I did seek to publish
Strict rules prohibit most forms of writing
Flames and smoke soon fill my room
My soul in despair as my earthly belongings become ashes
My family sadly plans my memorial
Darkness they know they cannot defy
My writes safely hidden; the Imprimatur to one day resurface
My Soul wondering where next to wander
