Just A Matter Of Time

When I think about the condition of the world,
And to see how many people have been displaced-
The homeless situation continues to get worse,
Where most values, except a few have been erased-
Guilty of our indecisions, we weren't reasonable,
We wouldn't listen.

The many things we did that brought us shame-
Wearing hand me downs, colors clashing.
Walking, looking for shelter, it's the best you can do.
You're even afraid to tell anyone your name-
Why? Are the cops after you? What did you do?

Many go through the legal system alone-
You should be tired of living like you are,
Pushing a cart around day to day, with everything you own-
I get emotional when I dwell on it too long,
Because it should be unacceptable, better yet, unthinkable-
Once captain of your ship, you were in control.

You thought it would always stay afloat.
You thought yours was unsinkable-
But there was a man once who said
That we should first trust in God, and move ahead in faith.
That we should do whatever it takes-
To stay in "His" good favor, we need to try.

Even though He knows we all make our share of mistakes-
Don't take my word for it though. What do I know?
For the things I speak may not be creditable-
Soon, all will be revealed, and the news will be shattering.
With no initiative or drive, it's hard to stay alive.
It's a downhill trip,
And that ship will go down eventually,
It's inevitable…
